Kim Archer Band: Bio

Kim Archer - Singer, Acoustic Guitar

Fresh out of the recording studio for her just-released CD “My Friend,” singer/songwriter Kim Archer is going on tour to promote her acclaimed new album.

Known for her raw, powerhouse performances and personable interaction with her audiences, Archer has attracted a large and loyal following of fans in the Pacific Northwest and across the country. For nearly a decade this lifelong musician has entertained standing-room-only crowds that consistently fill venues – and dancing in the aisles is highly encouraged. Whether she’s playing the Hard Rock Cafe with her tight 4-piece band, or an intimate club for a solo show, Archer never disappoints.

Kim Archer’s music follows in the footsteps of great female singer/songwriters like Joan Armatrading, Melissa Ethridge and Bonnie Raitt. With guitar in hand she commands the stage playing her own original songs rooted in old school soul, funk and classic rock, sultry blues and ballads. She’s also a master at re-inventing iconic rock hits like Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like an Eagle,” which she played live for “My Friend.” Giving choice cover tunes the “Kim Archer treatment,” she conjures up a whole new vibe on such vintage hits so that they sound fresh and wonderfully different.

“My Friend” takes listeners on a ride that rises and falls, dances and rests, just like Archer’s live shows. Now she’s at the ready to bring her trademark performances to new venues so that more people can see and hear for themselves why Kim Archer earned a Washington Blues Society nomination in 2010 for Best Female Vocalist, and why her hometown fans in Tacoma, Wash. have voted her Best Overall Music Artist in Best of Tacoma competitions for two years running.
